3 changes that KKR could do after a shocking loss against PBK in IPL 2025

With this loss, it has become a bit difficult for Kkr to end in the top four.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost a game that was expected to win easily against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur on Tuesday. Kkr lost for 16 races even though Punjab was out for only 111 races, which is the lowest total defended in the history of the Premier League (IPL) of India.

KKR players did a good job by arresting Punjab with a low score, but the batters could not finish the game. Kkr was playing well in 62 for 2 in the eighth. But after Ajinkya Rahane went to her leg before the wickt, the batting alignment collapsed. Kkr retired for only 95 races and lost a great opportunity to win the game.

With this loss, it has become a bit difficult for Kkr to end in the top four. Now they need to win at least five of their next seven games to remain in the race for the playoffs. Kkr could also seek to make some changes in his eleven game. Let’s see three possible changes they could make for their next game against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Moeen Ali a strong option ahead of Nortje

A change that Kkr can make in his eleven play is to bring Moeen Ali back instead of Anrich Nortje, who played his first game of the season in the last game. Moeen has played three games for KKR this season, and the team won all of them. He blocked well in two games, taking two wickts against Rajasthan Royals and a Wicket against Chennai Super Kings. It also adds depth to batting alignment. Although Nortje did a decent job against Punjab, Moeen Ali could be a better option for the next game.

Gurbaz could replace Kock -like -shaped form

Another change that KKR might think is to bring Rahmanullah Gurbaz instead of Kock Quinton. Kock has not been able to have much impact this season, unlike how Phil Salt did for KKR last year. He obtained a 97 undefeated against Rajasthan Royals, but apart from that, he has obtained single -digit scores four times, and the other two scores are 15 and 23. In seven games, he has scored only 143 races with an average of 23.83, which shows that he has been fighting.

This could be the right time for KKR to give Gurbaz a chance. He did it well during the playoffs last season when Salt was not available, scoring 62 races in two tickets. You can also take gloves, making it a similar replacement for Kock.

It’s time for Kkr to use Andre Russell better

Kkr might consider another change, not in the eleven game but in his batting order. They could seek to send Andre Russell higher in the order. This season, Russell has not been able to have a great impact because he is hitting too low and is not playing much either. As a result, KKR has not been able to make complete use.

Everyone knows that when Russell acts, Kkr usually works well. If you face more balls, you can change the game on your own. Moving it up could mean that Rinku Singh lowers order, but not in each game. Russell needs more time in the fold, and giving some more deliveries could help Kkr get the best out of him.
