Punjab Kings will be aimed at ensuring its IPL inauguration title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) was for a complete review at the 2025 mega auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) after having retained only two players. Both players: Prabhsimran Singh (INR 4 million rupees) and Shashank Singh (INR 5.5 million rupees), and both are unlimited players. Shreyas Iyer (INR 26.75 million rupees) was its biggest purchase at the IPL 2025 auction and will lead the Kings this season.
After guiding Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an IPL title last year, Punjab Kings will expect Iyer to take them to their inaugural trophy. Punjab Kings will begin its IPL 2025 campaign with a game against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on March 25. Here are three initial XI decisions that the 2014 IPL finalists will have to take if they will win the title this season.
Priyansh Arya can be an explosive impact player
The IPL introduction of the impact player in 2023 has provided a platform for young and promising players to show their talents. Despite receiving mixed reactions from people such as Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the impact player rule will be kept in the IPL. Players like Dhruv Jurel, Noor Ahmed and Tushar Ubpande have benefited from the rule. The opening batter without limit Priyansh Arya could be another addition to this list.
Priyansh was acquired by Punjab Kings for RS 3.80 at the IPL 2025 auction. The 24 -year -old grabbed the headlines when he hit six six for the south of Delhi Superstarz against the strikers of northern Delhi during an opening match of Delhi Premier League (DPL) in August last year. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Tournament, Priyansh scored 325 races from nine games at a strike rate of 176.73, including a century and a fifty.
If you cannot enter the game XI, the left -handed should be appointed at least one impact player, especially if the kings need crucial races.
About the shaking between Ferguson and Omarzai
There is a probable shake between the Ferguson block of New Zealand and Azmatullah Omarzai of Afghanistan for a place in the Kings of Punjab playing XI. Both are extremely quality pacemakers, but Omarzai could have an advantage over the Kiwi.
This is because Ferguson is a bit more prone to injuries and, having said that, was injured during a Champions Trophy warming combat against Afghanistan in early February. He suffered a foot injury, which has kept him out of the XI of New Zealand for the first two games against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

But, again, Ferguson is more effective in the environment and death and his ability to nail those Yorkers makes it a formidable game option. It will be a difficult decision between Omarzai and Ferguson.
No quality support for Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal will lead the Punjab Kings rotating attack this season. However, what is missing is a reliable support option. Harpreet Brar is an option and, although he has taken 25 WICKETS of 41 IPL games, his average is expensive at age 35.
Chahal and Brars will have to play together for the kings, this IPL and the consistency will be key. The Australian terrain Glenn Maxwell is also another part -time turn option for the Punjab Kings.
