3 reasons why Dewald Brevis is perfect in CSK for IPL 2025

It has been cornered as a replacement for injuries.

The young South African Dewald Brevis joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the rest of the 2025 season of the Premier League of India (IPL) on Friday. The 21 -year -old was appointed as a replacement for the pancer Gurjapneet Singh.

Brevis also joins the franchise at a time when the five times champions have a desperate need to reinforce their batting alignment. This is more than the case after the forced withdrawal of the regular captain of the Super Kings Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been discarded from the tournament due to an elbow injury.

So why is Dewald Brevis perfect for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025? We take a look.

Lack of batters with an intention of attack

One of the main problems with Chennai Super Kings is the absence of batters with a genuine attack intention. There is Rachin Ravindra, who began the tournament with 65* and 41 blows against the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Bangalore challengers, respectively.

However, the New Zealand batter has flown hot and cold during recent matches. Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda and Devon Conway have not made even their maximum potential. To some extent, only Shivam Dube has recently made expectations, with scores of 42, 31*and 43*. Apart from these three games, however, Dube has not worked particularly well.

Great containment skills

Another thing that the teams lack this season are the great successes. Dewald Brevis, called Baby AB, could provide the solution to that. Brevis has previously played for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and although his numbers in the IPL (230 races in 10 games) do not do much justice, it is his ability to hit from the word GO that makes Brevis a great option for CSK.

With regard to its recent exploits in the T20, Brevis played in the SA20 for my cape town, scoring 291 races from 12 games at an attack rate of 184.17.

Immense experience of playing franchise leagues

The SA20 and the IPL are not the only leagues that Brevis has played. He has also played in leagues such as the Caribbean Premier League, as well as the main Crickt Leagues in the United States. Its exposure to play in the Major Leagues will greatly contribute to adapt to the IPL once again.

With Rahul tripathi supporting a bad shape in IPL 2025, it only makes sense that Brevis replaces it in the XI game. However, that would mean limited or null opportunities for Devon Conway, who knows that it produces excellent returns with the bat. Therefore, Chennai Super Kings should try playing Dewald Brevis in the XI.
