Looking at Shaw’s Under-19 teammates from 2018, several players are already settled in an IPL franchise or have landed a job this season.
One of the most surprising parts of the IPL 2025 auction was that Prithvi Shaw went unsold. It maintained its base price of INR 75 Lakhs for this auction but found no buyers despite being so explosive at one point.
Looking at his under-19 teammates from 2018, several players are already settled in an IPL franchise or got a job this season. That was one of the most talented groups of players and they were fairly rewarded for their superior talent.
We look at four big players who either earned big salaries or were retained by the franchise during the auction.
Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is the most expensive player of that lot and earned a whopping INR 18 crore from Gujarat Titans (GT). The franchise kept him as their first pick and he will also lead the unit.
He is an opener who can bat at different speeds and is among the most consistent batsmen in the competition. Gill has been GT’s premium batsman since his admission to the league in 2022.

Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh and Shubman Gill will earn the same amount in the next cycle (INR 18 crore) from Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans respectively. While PBKS did not retain Arshdeep, they used their Right To Match (RTM) card to get him back.
Arshdeep is a new-ball bowler who can swing the new ball and will get ample help in the powerplay at Mullanpur. Furthermore, he has ample control over his yorkers and can also be very effective in the death overs, making him a go-to pacer.
Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag didn’t work out in the initial seasons, but one excellent season was enough to stamp his authority. It was RR’s third hold and fetched Rs 14 crore before the auction.
He is a middle-order batsman who has exceptional pace and also a decent spin player. Additionally, it offers useful side effects and provides comprehensive value without wasting an overseas fee.
Abhishek Sharma
Talent is in abundance during the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 batch, and Abhishek Sharma is one of those talented players who will feature in the upcoming edition of IPL. After a breakneck season in 2024, SRH signed him for Rs 14 crore.
He is a high-intent starter and can take the opponent’s game away by maximizing the power play. Additionally, he is also a good left-arm spinner who can be threatening in utility decks.
Note: KKR bought Anukul Roy for INR 40 Lakhs, LSG bought Aryan Juyal for INR 30 Lakhs and Kamlesh Nagarkoti was bought for INR 30 Lakhs by CSK during the IPL 2025 auction. They are from the same batch.
