5 players RCB will target in WPL 2025 auction

RCB released six players before the auction, including Nadine de Klerk.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) retained as many as 14 players ahead of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction. They released six players ahead of the auction but their trade deal with UP Warriorz grabbed the spotlight.

They brought in Danni Wyatt-Hodge from Warriorz and released Nadine de Klerk from their team to round out foreign players. That also means RCB-W cannot bid for any foreign players during the auction, even though there are four open slots.

Current RCB squad ahead of WPL 2025 auction: Smriti Mandhana (c), Sabbineni Meghana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Georgia Wareham, Shreyanka Patil, Asha Sobhana, Sophie Devine, Renuka Singh, Sophie Molineux, Ekta Bisht, Kate Cross , Kanika Ahuja, Danni Wyatt (traded).

We look at five players who Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women could target during the WPL 2025 auction.

Simran Shaikh

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women released Shubha Satheesh, opening a vacancy for a middle-order batsman. Simran Shaikh can fill that role, given his previous experience playing in the league.

He was with UP Warriorz in the middle and lower-middle order last season. He won’t be a sure starter for RCB-W, but he can be a solid back-up.

Sushma Verma

RCB-W has parted ways with Indrani Roy and is left with Richa Ghosh only as batsman. Therefore, they need an extra batsman to be a backup for Richa.

Sushma has extensive experience as a goalkeeper and is safe behind the sticks. She knows how to operate at this level and has played all formats for India Women.

Nuzhat Parveen

If RCB-W fails to get Sushma Verma, they can opt for Nuzhat Parween during the WPL 2025 auction. The reasons are the same as mentioned in the Sushma Verma section.

She has been in good form of late and looked in decent touch in the Women’s One Day Trophy. She will be among the most sought-after wicketkeeper-batsmen in the auction, but RCB-W has a decent budget to pursue her.

Yashasri S

S Yashasri is a fast bowler and can level up in any phase. RCB-W have launched Disha Kasat and will need a speedster as backup.

Yashasri has previous experience in the league and will be a good backup. He can enter the XI if someone is injured mid-tournament.

Anshu Nagar

RCB’s requirements are clear after Shraddha Pokharkar’s release – they need a left-arm pacer. A young Anshu Nagar has been making waves at the age of 13.

Anshu is a left-arm pacer who can swing the new ball at pace and specializes in carrying the ball to right-handed batsmen, making him a perfect power bowler. If RCB-W gets her, she can also start in the first XI due to her vast capabilities.
