During the ongoing second Test of IND vs NZ, India captain Rohit Sharma once again failed to start with the bat, being dismissed for a nine-ball duck off a brilliant delivery from New Zealand pacer Tim Southee.
With the dismissal, Rohit lost his wicket to Southee for a record 14th time, the most any bowler has dismissed the Indian captain in all formats along with Proteas speedster Kagiso Rabada.
While Southee’s performance was undoubtedly impeccable, there is certainly more than meets the eye.
Notably, Rohit has also been similarly sacked several times previously. While Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly one of the most complete and talented batsmen of the modern era, there seems to be a crack in his technique.
Rohit has faced increasing difficulties with specific types of deliveries.
It is usually a delivery of good length around middle and with lateral movement where the dynamic right-hander falls prey.

Talking about the match, Rohit’s dismissal was the only wicket that fell for India as they closed the opening day of the decisive second game with the scoreboard reading 16 for 1 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the crease.
Earlier, India’s latest signing Washington Sundar justified his selection by picking up his first fife in the longer format. Sundar finished his spell with incredible figures of 23.1-4-59-7 as the visitors were bowled out for an under-par 259.
