AB de Villiers wants to see ‘fighting spirit’ in ‘too nice’ RCB batsman Rajat Patidar

Former South African cricketer Ab de Villiers shared his experience playing with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Rajat Patidar in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the young cricketer is a good guy and he needs to bring fighting spirit.

Rajat Patidar is one of the most exciting talents in Indian cricket. The right-hander made a big name for himself during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He had an amazing season and scored a century in the tie.

Rajat Patidar has also impressed many with his consistency in the domestic circuit. The batsman has also had setbacks and also faced many injuries. However, he has now come back strongly and has been named in the Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa.

AB de Villiers, who played with Rajat Patidar, at Royal Challengers Bangalore, said that the young Indian batsman has a strong personality and being nice can lead to his downfall. He also praised the RCB batsman for his domestic performances and said that he has a great future. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

“Is a great player. I played with him for a few seasons at RCB but at that time he was young and now he is more experienced. He is a solid personality with solid technique.

“I want to see a fighting spirit in him. Sometimes he is too nice, which could be his downfall. I think he has a bright future and it is fantastic to see him rewarded for his performances on the national stage.”

AB de Villiers reveals his favorite innings for RCB

AB de Villiers also named his favorite innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He said the knock of him against Rajasthan Royals in Dubai. He recalled hitting Jofra Archer for six and winning a game for his team.

“I think of a very good chase against Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai Stadium and ending up hitting Jofra Archer for a six over cow (corner). One of my favorite innings because we were down and out in that game. I love it when we’re down and outside. Give me a challenge and it really excites me (smiles).”

During that game, AB de Villiers scored 55* off just 22 balls. He won his team’s game when they were down. With 35 runs needed in two overs, he bowled blindly to take his team home.
