Sunrisers Hyderabad star Abhishek Sharma has caught everyone’s attention with his batting performance in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-hander has been one of the best players with the bat in the tournament so far.

The Punjab star, who is yet to play for Team India in international cricket, has made a huge impact with his hitting power. In the first game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Abhishek Sharma smashed 32 runs off just 19 balls with the help of four boundaries and a couple of sixes.

This was followed by a whirlwind half-century against Mumbai Indians. He smashed a 16-ball fifty to record the fastest fifty of the season. The left-handed batsman scored 63 runs off just 23 balls with the help of three fours and seven sixes as SRH amassed a record total of 277/3. SRH won the game by 31 runs and Abhishek Sharma was declared Man of the Match.

In the third game against the Gujarat Titans, he took the lead but could not convert it into a big score and was out after scoring 29 runs with the help of two fours and as many sixes. In the fourth game against Chennai Super Kings, Abhishek Sharma scored 37 off just 12 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes to set the stage for an easy chase.

Abhishek Sharma creates history:

Abhishek Sharma, on Tuesday (April 9), created history by becoming the first uncapped player to score 1000 runs in the IPL for SRH. He achieved the feat during the match against Punjab Kings. He only needed nine runs to complete 1000 runs for SRH and did so by scoring 16 runs in the game before being dismissed by Sam Curran.

The highly rated batsman started his career in 2018 with Delhi Capitals. He played three matches for DC and scored 63 runs before being caught by SRH. His best season with the bat for SRH came in 2022 when he scored 426 runs. Last year he scored 226 runs. In the current season, he has scored 177 runs in five games and will look to touch the 400-run mark again.
