Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has praised Ben Foakes for his brilliant wicket-keeping in the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England. Ben Foakes has been a brilliant wicketkeeper for England and according to Adam Gilchrist, he is the best wicketkeeper for spin bowling. India and England meet in the third Test of the five-match series at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot, where India posted 445 in the first innings after batting first.

Ben Foakes has been brilliant with the gloves in this series, having made nine catches and made two moves in this series, contributing to 11 dismissals in this series. He was asked to keep wickets ahead of the likes of Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Pope. Ben Foakes has been brilliant behind the wickets and has taken excellent catches behind the wickets. Ben Foakes has also been decent with the bat as he has been involved in some of the important partnerships for England in the series.

Adam Gilchrist, while speaking on a podcast, spoke about Ben Foakes’ keeping skills and hailed him as the best wicketkeeper for bowlers snubbing the likes of MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant. He was amazed by Ben Foakes’ handling of spin-heavy courts and stressed that if there isn’t much spin, England refrain from playing him in the playing eleven.

“Ben Foakes is the best wicketkeeper I have seen in bowling in particular. And again, I haven’t seen enough of him standing behind the stumps because for some reason they don’t want to play him if there’s not going to be a lot of spin, but what he did in that second Test match was pretty incredible. The catches he was taking, under the bowlers’ edges. He is absolutely pure class,” said Adam Gilchrist.

Ben Foakes has been responsible for 11 dismissals in the series and will definitely finish around 25-30 at the end of the series. He has been a great wicketkeeper in this series and Adam Gilchrist has rightly praised those catches below the boundary. Adam Gilchrist himself has been a great wicketkeeper and has held wickets for the likes of Shane Warne and Brett Lee, taking on the best of both worlds.

The five-match Test series between India and England is currently tied 1-1 and this game is a good opportunity for both sides to take the lead in this series. India lost the first match of the series against England in Hyderabad by 28 runs and then won the second Test by 106 runs in Vizag. India have posted a total of 445 against England in the first innings of the third Test based on the centuries of Rohit Sharma (131) and Ravindra Jadeja (112).
