Ihsanullah Janat was suspended from all cricket activities for 5 years
Janat’s ban is a huge blow to Afghan cricket, which is the rising superpower in the cricketing world. The ban has already come into effect and will remain in place for five years. This means that he cannot take part in any cricketing activity, let alone play as a cricketer.
Janat is believed to have committed a violation of the ACB and ICC Anti-Corruption Codes during the KPL (Kabul Premier League) 2. He has already admitted to the charges and revealed his connection with the corrupt activities.
Ihsanullah Janat’s record in professional cricket
Ihsanullah Janat is the brother of former Afghanistan captain Nawroz Mangal. The 26-year-old was considered a rising talent in the region. He has played three Test matches, 16 ODIs and a solitary T20I so far in his international career.
The right-hander has a good technique and likes to score big runs. He has an exceptional average of 56 in first-class cricket. He has scored 1568 runs in just 19 first-class matches so far.
Ihsanullah captained Afghanistan at the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. It was the same tournament where young Rashid Khan showed his world-class class and began his incredible journey in cricket.
Ihsanullah’s last international match
Ihsanullah is currently running out of Afghanistan players for all formats. The 26-year-old last played an international match in June 2022 against Zimbabwe, when he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe.
But he was considered a promising player for Afghanistan, especially in red-ball cricket. With good technique, he could have been a real problem for Afghanistan in difficult conditions. When his suspension ends, he will be 31.
Three other players are also suspected of being involved in match-fixing. Investigations into the matter are already underway. Once their guilt is confirmed, a decision will be made on whether they are involved.
