India captain Rohit Sharma has finally broken his silence over the heartbreaking defeat in the World Cup final last month. The batting superstar looked distraught and was struggling to control her emotions after the loss against Australia in the title final.

While most players decided to share their feelings on social media after the loss, Rohit Sharma did not. He still hasn’t posted anything about X after the World Cup final. On Instagram, he recently posted a photo for the first time after the game. The Indian superstar has finally opened up about the defeat. India were the firm favorites to win the final due to their impressive performance throughout the competition.

They were the only undefeated team left in the competition before the final. After winning all nine of their league matches, the Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-final to reach the final for the first time since 2011. However, their winning streak came to an end in the final when Australia defeated them. won by six wickets to win the World Cup for the sixth time.

In a video posted on Rohit Sharma’s official Instagram account, the Indian captain began by saying that he found it very difficult to move on after the defeat. He also praised the support received by the team throughout the tournament before again expressing his disappointment at not being able to win the World Cup.

“After the final, it was very difficult to come back and start moving forward, so I decided I needed to stop thinking about this. But then, wherever I was, I noticed people coming up to me and appreciating everyone’s effort and how well we played. I feel sorry for all of them. All of them, along with us, dreamed of lifting that World Cup, along with us,” Rohit Sharma said.

“Everywhere we went throughout this entire campaign, there was a lot of support from everyone who came to the stadium first and from the people who watched from home as well. I want to value what people have done for us in that month and a half. But then again, if I think about it more and more, I feel quite disappointed that I couldn’t go all the way,” he added.

Additionally, he talked about the praise he received from fans for the way he and his teammates played during the tournament. The veteran batsman said the love of the fans finally motivated him to move on and start working again.

“Seeing people come up to me and tell me they were proud of the team made me feel good. Along with them, I was also healing. I felt, okay, this is the kind of thing you want to hear,” Rohit Sharma said.

“People, when they understand what the player must be going through and when they know these kinds of things and not taking out that frustration, that anger, it means a lot to us, for me it definitely meant a lot because there was no anger, it was just pure love from the people I met and it was wonderful to see that. So it motivates you to come back and start working again and look for another final award,” he added.
