Just like in his father Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s films, cricketer Agni Chopra has made a fascinating debut in First-Class Cricket. The left-handed batsman achieved an astonishing feat in first-class cricket after his debut. Agni Chopra has hit 4 tons in his first four games in Ranji Trophy 2024.

Angi Chopra previously played for Mumbai in Under-19 and Under-23 teams. However, he has moved to the Mizoram team for the domestic season of 2024. The 25-year-old has achieved a wonderful record after making his debut in the Ranji Trophy 2024.

Agni Chopra hits 4 tons in first four games of Ranji Trophy 2024

Left-handed batsman Angi Chopra has hit four centuries in her first four matches of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. She recorded knocks of 166, 92, 164, 15, 114, 10, 105 and 101 in the 8 innings in 4 games. Hence she smashed a hundred in every match.

After 4 games, he is the tournament’s leading run-getter with 767 runs. He possesses an astonishing average of 95.0 and a strike rate of 111+. Talking to PTI about his transfer to the Mizoram team, Agni Chopra said that everyone welcomed him.

“Coming here to Mizoram, everyone has been very welcoming and really included me and there are two more professionals – KC bhai (KC Cariappa) and Mohit Jangra. They are inclusive and welcoming and I never felt like an outsider. I have been taught some Mizo words and phrases and I don’t feel in a very different place,” said the young batsman.

My aim is to take Mizoram to the Elite division: Agni Chopra

However, Mizoram is part of the Plate group in Ranji Trophy 2024, unlike the other 32 teams that are in Elite Groups. Agni Chopra wants to lead Mizoram in the Plate group final to qualify for the Elite Group next season.

“I think I am trying to be present and my goal is to take Mizoram to the Elite division. If we are in the Elite division, then there is nothing to think about in terms of quality of bowling and I will play for Mizoram,” he further said.

Mizoram to face Hyderabad in their next Ranji Trophy match

Mizoram is part of the Plate Group in Ranji Trophy 2024 along with five other teams namely: Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. Another 32 teams in the league are part of Elite Groups A, B, C and D.

Mizoram lost their first game to Sikkim by 4 wickets. Their next match against Nagaland ended in a draw. Later, they crushed Arunachal Pradesh by 8 wickets and Meghalaya by 191 runs. Mizoram will now take on leaders Hyderabad in their next match on Friday, February 2.
