Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has launched a brutal criticism at Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi for their shameless behaviour after the 2024 T20 World Cup. He attacked the players for using the religion card and said where does one go when they lie about their fitness.
Nothing has gone well for Pakistan. National Cricket Team since the 2024 T20 World Cup began. Their performances dipped as they failed to shine with bat and ball and faced an early exit from the tournament, facing defeat against the United States of America and India.
After that, Pakistan faced a lot of criticism as many former players and fans attacked the players for the way they performed. Amidst the poor performances in the tournament, the PCB chairman made a bold statement, saying that he needed to operate the team.
Pakistani players Mohammad Rizwan reacted to the PCB chairman’s comment saying that he can do whatever he wants with the team. He also included a religious comment saying that “Muslims are brand ambassadors of Islam first and then Pakistan. When a player plays anywhere in the world, he is representing Islam.”

Shaheen Afridi was asked about the same but he gave a sarcastic reply, saying why do they need to perform surgery and asked if anyone was sick in the team.

Following the strange comments by both players, Ahmed Shehzad criticised them and said that it is disappointing that players use religion to hide their poor results in the World Cup. On his X account, he explained:
“It is disappointing that some players hide their poor performance at the World Cup by holding unnecessary press conferences and playing the religion card. Where does religion go when they lie about their fitness and when they admit that they performed on the field? Does religion teach you to deceive others and lie on the field? You are paid to perform on the field and instead you join the team group.
“Religion teaches us to fulfill our responsibility with full determination and not to lie about our suffering. Some spokespersons of these players want them to be given another chance, but why? This is Pakistan’s team and it is not their local team where they can play. If they want another chance, they can join their team and play with their friends, but not for the Pakistan cricket team anymore.”

Ahmed Shehzad further stated that he will not let PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi forget the surgery he promised. He lashed out at Shaheen Afridi for mocking the chairman and stated that they would continue to raise their voice until the team returned to normalcy.
“We will not allow PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to forget the big surgery he promised. Some players in the Pakistan team are now even mocking the Chairman’s statements as they do not care. But we will make sure that the fans get their answers and action is taken against these players. We have taken a stand and will not back down until this Pakistan team gets back on the right track.”
