Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody made a brutal attack on England in the ongoing first Test match against India. Tom Moody criticized England captain Ben Stokes for running out all three reviews in the first 14 overs of India’s first innings in the series opener.

The Ben Stokes-led team is currently facing the Rohit Sharma-led team in the first Test match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The English team opted to bat first on the pitch, with three specialist bowlers in their playing eleven.

3 reviews taken in 13.2 overs – Tom Moody

Tom Moody, on his social media account X (previously known as Twitter), expressed surprise at England’s use of three reviews in 13.2 overs. The former all-rounder commented on the effectiveness of his Bazball approach during the first Test of the series.

“3 reviews were made in 13.2 overs, all done in #Bazball time! #INDvENG,” wrote Tom Moody.

The England team used all three reviews in India’s first innings. However, all three reviews failed in the match. They took the first on a caught-behind appeal in the third over off Mark Wood, but the replay indicated there was no cut by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The Three Lions used their second review for a caught appeal against Rohit Sharma. However, the replay showed a gap between the ball and Rohit’s outside edge. The ball deceived Rohit as he went over the outside edge, causing England to lose their second review.

England took a risk with an LBW against Shubman Gill. However, ball tracking confirmed that he bounced on leg stump, causing England to miss their third and final review. The batsman did not read the ball as he put pressure on debutant Tom Hartley.

Ben Stokes smashes a half-century to help team reach 246 runs

England openers Zak Crawley (20 off 40) and Ben Duckett (35 off 39) got off to a promising start with a 55-run partnership but could not capitalize on it. Joe Root (29) and Jonny Bairstow (37) tried to steady themselves with a 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

England’s first innings in the opening Test against India ended at 246 runs, despite the team struggling at 155/7 at one point. Captain Ben Stokes played a crucial role, leading from the front and contributing 70 runs off 88 deliveries, with three sixes and six boundaries.

The Indian spinners dominated the bowling performance, with Ravindra Jadeja leading the way with figures of 3/68. R Ashwin and Axar Patel also made significant contributions, taking three and two wickets respectively. Jasprit Bumrah secured two wickets for 28 runs on Day 1.

In reply, India were 119/1 after 23 overs in their first innings at stumps. Indian captain Rohit Sharma scored 24 runs before being dismissed. Yashasvi Jaiswal (76) and Shubman Gill (14) remained in the crease at the end of the opening day.
