‘Angry’ Basit Ali calls Pakistan ‘illiterate’ after India crush Bangladesh in first Test

Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has praised the Indian team management for the pitch they prepared for the first Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team. While citing the example of the Chennai pitch, he said that the Pakistan management is illiterate when it comes to the pitch, which infuriates him.

The Indian national cricket team put in a magnificent team effort in the first Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team. They won the opening match of the series by a massive margin of 280 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series as both the batsmen and bowlers contributed at crucial moments of the game.

The pitch at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium was also quite good. The surface offered help to both fast bowlers and spin bowlers. Apart from that, it was also a decent pitch to bat on and the game ended in the morning session of Day 4 with the Indian spin bowlers wreaking havoc on the Bangladesh batting line-up.

Bangladesh, who played on flat tracks in Pakistan and won the Test series 2-0, were not given permission by India to go ahead in the game except in the morning session on Day 1. The Rohit Sharma-led team was clinical in all aspects of the game and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

Basit Ali was amazed by the performance of the Indian bowlers and said that they ticked all the boxes. He praised the pace of the bowlers and the spin bowlers in the game and praised those who prepared the pitches, adding that the pitches in Pakistan make him angry. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

“Bumrah took 5 wickets in the game, Ashwin took 6 wickets, Jadeja got 5, Siraj took 2 and Akash Deep claimed 2 wickets. This is the total of 20 wickets. The bowlers ticked all the boxes. India played with two bowlers, keeping in mind that the ball would turn, and it did.

“So credit goes to the groundskeepers, who know how to make a Test match surface perfect. Not like us… I’m not going to go to that side, but I’m full of anger.” said Basit Ali.

In our nation, they say that tone has no value – Basit Ali

Basit Ali further mentioned that Pakistan does not value the pitch and they are illiterate. He stressed that half of the problems of the Pakistan National Cricket Team would be solved if they read the pitch well. He lashed out at the PCB, saying that they were sending wrong messages to the young players. He elaborated:

“In our country, they say that the pitch has no value. They are illiterate people. Those who have played cricket with pride are there in the PCB. That’s why I get angry. What are they teaching the children?

“Fifty percent of the problem is solved if the speech is read properly, ask Sunil Gavaskar and Javed Miandad. But they don’t understand it.” said Basit Ali.

India has a 1-0 lead in the series and is now eager to win the second match of the series. The match will be played on September 27 at Green Park in Kanpur.
