The 2025 Cup Asia will be played in T20 format and will see that up to 19 games are played in this edition. The reports said that the Asian Council of Cricket (ACC) has scheduled the tournament between the second and fourth week of September at the end of this year.
Asia Cup 2025 to play in a neutral place
The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) will be the host of the 2025 Cup Asia, but the tournament will not be played in India. According to reports, it was learned that the ACC has decided to organize the event in a neutral place due to the agreement that India and Pakistan shared before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is played in the hybrid model.
According to the ACC document, the tournament will be held in a neutral country when it is the turn of the BCCI or the PCB to organize it. The 2025 Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka or in the United Arab Emirates, which is currently organizing Indian games at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The decision of organizing Asia Asia 2025 in a neutral place is because they did not want any controversy over the teams of India and Pakistan who did not want to travel to the countries of the other. This has been happening since the last events, especially during the 2023 Cup Asia and the continuous ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group
A total of 8 teams will participate in the 2025 Cup Asia. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Eau, Oman and Hong Kong, along with India and Pakistan. Nepal, who played in the latest edition of the Asia Cup, will not play a tournament this time, since he could not qualify for this edition.
The format for the Asia Cup will be the same, with eight teams divided into two groups. India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group. The two best teams in each group will advance towards the Super Four stage. In that part, the two best teams on the table will play the final.
There will be four cups from Asia until 2031
The Asia Cup offers a great opportunity for fans to see India vs Pakistan three times. The two teams will face the group stage, then in the Super Four round, and probably also in the final. In the last Cup of Asia, the two teams faced twice.
Until 2031, there will be four cups of Asia. After the 2025 edition, the 2027 edition will be held in Bangladesh (13 games) in the ODI format, followed by one in the T20 format (19 games) with the PCB as the host but played in a neutral country. Finally, the 2031 edition, in the ODI format (13 games), will be held in Sri Lanka.
