‘Are you playing a test match?’ – Monty Panesar sledges struggling Yusuf Pathan in Legends League Cricket

Watching Yusuf struggle for fluency, Monty couldn’t resist asking him if Yusuf was playing Test cricket.

Monty Panesar and Yusuf Pathan engaged in some wholesome banter during the 17th game of Legends League Cricket between Konark Suryas Odisha and Toyam Hyderabad. The banter began when Yusuf Pathan seemed to have difficulty moving forward with the willow.

As Panesar bowled a long delivery over the stumps, Pathan went on the defensive and defended it straight to cover. Watching him struggle for fluency, Monty couldn’t resist asking him if Yusuf was playing Test cricket.

“Are you playing a test match?” Monty asked, to which Yusuf cheekily replied: “How many wickets do you have?” The banter continued for a few moments and the two were in no mood to stop anytime soon.

Pathan finally got out after a tough knock, scoring seven runs off 18 deliveries, at an abysmal strike rate of 38.88. He never followed through and looked out of touch, and his team never got the necessary momentum after batting first in Jammu.

Konark Suryas Odisha posted 100/9 in their 20 overs

After batting first, Konark Suryas Odisha could only reach 100/9 in the allotted 20 overs. With the exception of Dilshan Munaweera, who scored 51 runs off 51 deliveries, no other batsman got ahead at any point and lost their wickets after playing too many dot balls.

The second best score was from Jesse Ryder, who made 11 runs off 15 deliveries, showing how poor KSO was with the bat. For Toyam Hyderabad, Bipul Sharma and Ravi Jangid snared two wickets each while four other batsmen dismissed one batsman each to restrict KSO to a below-average total.

During the chase, Toyam Hyderabad did not have the best outing as they lost two wickets in the fifth over. Dilshan Munaweera, who starred with the bat and played like a lone warrior, also took responsibility with the ball and caught both wickets in the same over to apply some pressure on the opponent.

Later, Munaweera also dismissed Shaun Marsh with a score of 3. They will need more wickets in quick succession to put the opponent under pressure and make this match even more interesting in a low chase.
