Ashes 2023: “Australia Should Include Mitchell Starc At Lord’s”- Ex Australian Pacer Jason Gillespie

Australia should feature Mitchell Starc in the playing XI at Lord’s with second ash test As of June 28, former pacemaker Jason Gillespie sits in. The visitors won the first Test by two wickets and are looking to make it 2-0 at Lord’s.

The pacer said Australia may bring in Starc for Cameron Green as part of the bowlers’ rotation policy to keep them fresh.

“I would recommend calling on Mitchell Starc for the pace attack and unless Cameron Green is fit and able to bowl, they may consider Mitchell Marsh as an alternate option in the all-rounder role.” Gillespie wrote in his Daily Mail column.

The former Australian pacer further said that the other option Australia could use to bring in Starc is to replace him with Josh Hazlewood. He said management should take this call, even though he’s a bit expensive of late.

Mitchell Starc could enter for Josh Hazlewood: Jason Gillespie

“Starc could also come in for Josh Hazlewood, but I think this is less likely as he was the bowlers’ choice in the first innings at Birmingham. Yes, Starc can make a few runs, but if Australia were to use pitches similar to the ones they used on the opening day of this series, with three guys on the fence, Starc will get protection and because he is a real attacking bowler. he tends to throw the ball much higher than Test’s opponents, to spin it around and get the yorkers into play; The team could benefit from him ”. Gillespie added more.

Lord’s will host the second test from June 28 to July 2. Headingly will host the third test from July 6-10. Manchester (July 19-23) and The Oval (July 27-31) will host the final two Test matches to conclude the series.
