Former England captains Kevin Pietersen and Nasser Hussain have reacted to Ollie Robinson’s sending off Usman Khawaja after the latter scored his 15th Test ton on day 3 of the Edgbaston Test match.
The Test match has since progressed, but Pietersen noted that the Robinson incident will always be a talking point for the remainder of the series.

Robinson made a well-planned dismissal of Usman Khawaja by keeping four fielders in front of him looking into his eyes. He tricked him into throwing a full pitch delivery that hit his stumps. The pacer then gave a bite to Khawaja who was returning to the pavilion.

The former England captains were arguing whether what Robinson did was right or wrong. While everyone believed that he did it in the heat of the moment, they agreed that he could have implications for the rest of the series.

It’s Ashes Cricket These Things Happen: Kevin Pietersen
“It is the Ashes cricket in the heat of battle. These things happen. Having played six of them, I have heard and seen worse than I [Robinson] saying! Maybe he went to a guy who doesn’t say anything to anyone on any occasion, who had just hit 140, so maybe that’s the problem with the Australians, but it’s a talking point.” noted Kevin Pietersen.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain had two views regarding the whole incident. In the first case, he said that he was not in favor of verbal jokes. Second, he pointed out that Robinson will now have to deal with the same thing when he comes out to bat in the second inning.
I never liked goodbyes: Nasser Hussain
“There are two things to say: one, verbally fire someone when they are away, I never really liked that. You took them out, he has 141 against you, do you really need to send them off? Then, doubling it down at a press conference: you [should] walk in and say, ‘it was on the spur of the moment, I just got carried away. You would prefer England to say ‘we’re going to do our best’, but words have consequences. When Robinson comes out to bat, he’s going to get it too.” Hussain concluded by saying.
