England batsman Joe Root passed big batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli on the list for most career runs before being stumpedly dismissed in a Test. The batsman struck hit after hit from him in the second innings of the ongoing 2023 first Ashes Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Joe Root, who hit a magnificent century in the first innings, continued his good form and bowled another decent shot in the second innings. This time he looked more aggressive and played some outrageous shots, mocking the Australian bowlers.

With the way Joe Root was hitting, he looked ready for another big hit, but Nathan Lyon outfoxed him. The batsman tried to hit it for six out of the park and went down the lane, but missed the ball and was stumped. This was the first time Joe Root had been stumped in Tests and he now has the second most career runs before being sacked stumped in a Test. English batsman after scoring 11,168 runs in the longest format of the match. He edged out Graeme Smith along with Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohii and trailed only Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
