Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said he was impressed with England’s bowling performances during the first Test match of the ongoing Ashes series against Australia. Aakash Chopra noted that the English bowlers attacked with the ball and denied the opposition easy singles.
The Ben Stokes-led side made a brave statement scoring 393 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on Day 1 of the match at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Former England captain Joe Root scored 118 unbeaten runs. Ben Stokes declared his first innings despite Joe Root not being left out at the crease.

Easy Singles Denied – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra took to Twitter to appreciate the English bowling approach more than their batting, stating that they challenged opposition batsmen to take risks and push themselves to the limits.
“I love the English bowling approach more than their batting approach…although it is the latter that is most often noticed.” Aakash Chopra tweeted.

“While they hit…they keep attacking. And as they bowl…they deny easy singles and continually challenge you to take risks and push yourself to the limits. It will be interesting to see if anyone decides to take on their bowlers. Relentlessly,” added.
England got off to a good start with the ball on Day 2, as Stuart Broad dismissed David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne in back-to-back deliveries on the 11th. The Australian side were down to 220/5 before the partnership between Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey helped put them in a good position.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra said it will be interesting to see how England’s batsmen approach Indian bowlers next year.
“Brendon McCullum has said that he doesn’t agree with ‘Bazball’, that it’s not a philosophy, but the philosophy has changed. England’s style of play has changed. Thinking about a change is easy and it is easy to implement it also at the beginning because you have the conviction”.

“The question comes when you lose. So you feel if it is right or wrong. All this Ashes will tell how far their philosophy goes and it will be even more interesting when they come to India, if they will be able to continue this philosophy there.”
England have won 11 of 13 Tests since Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum took over as captain and head coach respectively. The team led by Ben Stokes found success with their Bazball approach in England, New Zealand and on flat tracks in Pakistan.
