Former New Zealand cricketer and Australia assistant coach Daniel Vettori was impressed by England’s record in recent Test matches. He said that they have played well over the extended period and also talked about the important final of the ICC World Test Championship against India.
Since Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum took over the England test team, the Three Lions have been seen as a completely different side. They have embraced a fearless brand of cricket, which they promote as ‘Bazball’ and have beaten the opposition both at home and away.

Australia assistant coach Daniel Vettori, who has played a lot of cricket under Brendon McCullum, said that since taking over he has been very positive. He praised his record in the last 12 games. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Whatever style they (England) are wearing, they are playing winning cricket and that is what appeals to everyone. The fact that they have played so well over such an extended period of time has been the most impressive thing.
“Brendon wouldn’t want to draw attention to himself, but now he has this nickname. That’s Brendan since he came out of the womb, he’s pretty positive. England keeps coming, so you have to anticipate that and not back down.”

Ashes 2023: “We are preparing for it to be the same again” – Daniel Vettori On England captain Ben Stokes
England captain Ben Stokes has been largely responsible for the change in his cricket style. He, however, has been struggling with his fitness of late and is unable to bowl. He did not play against New Zealand in February and was also sidelined with injury during the IPL.
Daniel Vettori said they are preparing to play Ben Stokes in top form as he has been an aggressive weapon with both bat and ball. He elaborated:
“We are preparing for him to be his normal self. He is one of the best all-rounders in world cricket. We know how much he brings to the table as an all-rounder. He’s like Cameron Green to us, offering that balance and ability to come in and be an aggressive weapon along with his hitting that has been exceptional. Every team wants their SUV to be up and running because it makes things run smoothly.”
Ahead of Ashes 2023, Australia will take on India in the World Test Championship final. Vettori said that the game will set up well for the series against England. He explained:
“There is real excitement that we have the ability to play one of the best teams in the world in such a crucial game and that should set us up well for the Ashes.”
The final of the ICC World Test Championship will take place at the Oval, England, from June 7-11. Both India and Australia have started their preparations for the final and it promises to be an exciting clash.
