Headingley has had some amazing games: Mark Wood

“As a guy from the north, I obviously love playing up north. Headingley has had some [amazing] games: obviously in the last series with Ben Stokes and this was another great game. Old Trafford is an iconic place to play. Durham too… Watching Test-match cricket in North Durham is always special.” Wood told talkSPORT.

I understand some of the reasons why, but [I am] I’m surprised there isn’t at least one game here, because I think we get great support and I think they’re iconic places to play. [I’m] a little disappointed, just being from the north, that there isn’t one here where you feel like you have that extra support and you can relate to the people here.” further added.

Crowd The 12th man at Headingley and Manchester: Jack Leach

“You want to make the most of your home court advantage, don’t you? And those grounds, you definitely feel like you potentially have that.” Leach told the Vaughany and Tuffers Cricket Club podcast.

“They talk about the crowd being like a number 12 man and I think in those venues, it definitely is. So yeah, I think it’s a shame…playing up north, those grounds seem to be good for us and the crowds are epic in those places.” further added.

Hadingley and Manchester will host a test match against India in 2025. Headingley will also host the women’s Ashes Test in 2027.
