AUS vs PAK: Gautam Gambhir tags Pakistan cricket team as worst fielding team in world cricket

Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir gave interesting answers when asked about India’s biggest threat in the upcoming T20 World Cup. “Afghanistan, in those conditions, can be very, very dangerous. Australia, because they have impact players, and England because they play T20 cricket the way it should be played.” said Gautama Gambhir.

“I have a different angle. I think South Africa should win. They have not won any white ball tournaments. The way I saw their progress in the 50-over World Cup and obviously Pakistan, who are very dangerous.” said Yuvraj Singh.

Gautam Gambhir talks about Pakistan’s poor countryside

“Look, Pakistan, their pitch, as I saw in the 50-over World Cup, is probably the worst in international cricket. “They will literally have to get down to business if they really want to compete in the T20 format.” -Gautam Gambhir added.

“The number of finals that India has reached… I don’t think Pakistan has come close to the number of finals that India has reached in the last five or six years. And you are just one step away from the trophy. Hopefully, the T20 World Cup could be one of them.”

India He has always dominated Pakistan in ICC events winning more trophies than Pakistan. India has five ICC trophies to its name and Pakistan has three. India won the ODI World Cup twice, the T20 World Cup once and the Champions Trophy twice (shared with Sri Lanka in 2002-03). Meanwhile, Pakistan won all three titles once. Both nations are yet to win the ICC World Test Championship. India has reached the WTC final twice and Pakistan is yet to play a final in red ball format.

Gautam Gambhir saying that Pakistan’s pitch is the worst is not a dishonest statement as we have seen many cases where the main cause of Pakistan’s defeat is their below-average pitch. Blown catches, silly mistakes in the field and a lethargic attitude as a fielder have cost the Men in Green many games. They have always struggled in the field of fielding, no matter how good their bowling or batting is.

Pakistan is currently facing Australia in the Benaud-Qadir Trophy and Australia leads the three-match Test series 1-0 with the second Test currently underway at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, India takes on South Africa in a two-match Test series with the first Test taking place at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
