THE LOWDOWN
AUSTRALIA
Australia were indebted to their lower order for putting up what was ultimately a winning score of 258/9 in the second ODI. Sean Abbott struck a vital 69 batting at number eight and was ably supported by players around him such as Matt Short and Will Sutherland. Abbott then went on to take three wickets in an excellent all-round performance. Josh Hazlewood also showed his class with three wickets of his own.
WEST INDIES
Chasing 259 to win, not a single player failed to pass the half-century mark for West Indies with Keacy Carty’s 40 their top-score. Carty has been the Windies’ best batter across this series so far but he was afforded no support in this run chase as West Indies were bowled out for just 175, losing by 83 runs to go 2-0 down in the series with just one to play.
THE PREDICTION
Australia’s superior all-round quality has proven too much for West Indies to handle across this ODI series so far and that is reflected in the two results so far. Packed with players desperate to impressed as they bid to break into the first-choice XI, this has served to Australia’s advantage and should continue to do so in this final ODI. Back the 3-0 series sweep to be achieved by the hosts
BETTING TIP: AUSTRALIA TO WIN
