BAN vs SL scorecard, highlights of the second T20I: The second T20I of the five-match series between Najmul Hossain Shanto Bangladesh national cricket team and the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team led by Charith Asalanka was held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

The hosts recorded a victory in the match by 8 wickets (with 11 balls remaining) to level the score at 1-1 with the series decider taking place on Saturday, March 9 in Sylhet. Notably, Sri Lanka had won the exciting first high-scoring game by 3 runs.

The Lankan Lions were able to recover well from the early damage as Kamindu Mendis and Kusal Mendis contributed good runs for their team and made a crucial 66 runs off 42 deliveries. Sadeera Samarawickrama, who did well in the previous match, could not put up a good performance in the match and was dismissed for 7.

Then the next three batsmen of the Lankan team did a decent job of countering the Bangladesh bowlers and contributed crucial runs. Important contributions from Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews and Dasun Shanaka ensured that the visitors were able to post a respectable total on the board.

Captain Charith Asalanka scored 28 runs, Angelo Mathews scored a fine knock of 32 runs while Dasun Shanaka amassed 20 runs as Sri Lanka posted 165/5 on the board in their 20 overs.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam cast an economical spell by conceding just 20 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Although Islam was left without a wicket, Taskin Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman and Soumya Sarkar got a wicket each.

Chasing the target, the opening duo of Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar provided the hosts with a flying start. Both looked brilliant in the middle and Sarkar even got lucky when the third umpire ruled in his favor even when there was a clear shot on the UltraEdge.

Litton Das scored 36 runs off 24 balls, with 5 fours and 1 six, while Soumya Sarkar scored 26 runs off 22 balls, with 5 fours. The openers added 68 runs in 41 balls to push the Lankan Lions on the back foot.

The rest of the work was done by Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy. The number 3 and 4 batsmen played cautiously and hit boundaries when necessary to keep the run rate under control. They added an unbeaten 87 runs in 55 balls to lead their team to victory.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 53 runs off 38 balls, with 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Towhid Hridoy scored 32 runs off 25 balls, with 2 fours and 1 six.
