BANGLADESH FORM: STARTING STRONGLY

Bangladesh headed into the tournament on the back of a disappointing series defeat to the United States but they have started really well. They restricted Sri Lanka to a score of 124-9 before a nervy chase that eventually saw them clinch victory with two wickets in hand in the 19th over. They followed that up with a nail-biting four run defeat to South Africa in pursuit of 114 in New York.

NETHERLANDS FORM: PERFORMING IN ADVERSITY

Despite not being allowed players such as Colin Ackermann or Roelof van der Merwe due to their respective counties blocking their selection, the Netherlands cruised past Nepal in their opening match with a six-wicket victory and eight balls to spare before their own nail-biter against South Africa, reducing the Proteas to 3-3 and then 20-4 as they tried to hunt down 104 and eventually did after 18.5 overs.

BANGLADESH BETTING ANALYSIS

His performances in the ICC Cricket World Cup in India last year began to make him a bit of a name but Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy has continued that at the start of this tournament with 40 in a low-scoring chase against Sri Lanka, and then top scoring with 37 against South Africa. The man is in form and shining above experienced professionals like Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan so backing another stellar performance with him as their best bat (4/1) is good value.

Aside from a run out, eight of the Netherlands’ nine wickets that they lost to South Africa last week came to pace so backing a Bangladeshi pacer to pick up at least two wickets in the match is safe. Mustafizur Rahman (11/10) and Taskin Ahmed (11/10) are the leading candidates for that.

NETHERLANDS BETTING ANALYSIS

Max O’Dowd has a history of being a star player and knocking full member nations out of the tournament, as he did against South Africa back in 2022. He struggled against the Proteas last time out but hit an unbeaten, match-winning half-century against Nepal in their run chase before that with the aggressive top order hitter always worth watching. Him to simply score at least one six (13/8) is well worth backing.

As for the Netherlands’ bowling, the Dutch have taken six wickets in two matches inside the opposition’s batting powerplay so wickets up-front is always worth backing. With Logan van Beek always a threat, him to take at least two wickets in the match (6/4) is again decent odds.

BANGLADESH VS NETHERLANDS EXPERT PREDICTION

Prior to the tournament, Bangladesh were beaten by the United States whilst the Netherlands defeated Sri Lanka. In the competition, they have both suffered narrow defeats to an unconvincing South Africa but the Dutch proved themselves more than capable in tricky conditions against Nepal. Bangladesh did see off Sri Lanka eventually but very nearly tripped over a low target. It would be a bit of a gamble but the Netherlands could cause a Bangladeshi side that, prior to their defeat of Sri Lanka, were edging towards chaos, a few issues.

BANGLADESH VS NETHERLANDS TOP TIP: NETHERLANDS TO WIN
