Research on Shhely Akhter by Acu
The research agent of the ICC Anti -Corruption Code (ACC) focused on the chats exchanged between Shhely Akhter and another player (which was part of the team) through Facebook Messenger dated February 14, 2023. The date coincides with the match of the World Cup T20 between Bangladesh and Australia. Shhely offered the Cricket player around USD 16,400 to stay perplexed in the game.
This player proceeded to inform Shhely to ACU immediately sharing all voice notes sent by Shhely. However, Shhely had eliminated him from his devices.
During a research interview, Shhely confirmed to send the voice notes, but said that “he only did it to show her friend that the members of the Bangladesh team were not involved in the solution, not because she was really making a corrupt approach” .
Shhely presented the screenshots of a conversation between her and a friend about the “challenge.” She tried to demonstrate that conversations were exchanged before February 14, long before the party in question. However, the ACC confirmed with a forensic investigation that the archives had been created after February 14 by “reviewing the underlying metadata for messages.”
