The 17th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 will take place between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars. The match between the two teams will take place at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
The BBL game so far is equally balanced as both Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars are giving their best. When asked to bat first, the hosts did not get off to a great start as they lost Matthew Wade for just 1 run at the start of the innings.
But after that, Caleb Jewell (45) and Macalister Wright (33) brought Hobart Hurricanes back into the game and hit some great shots. The duo took the attack to the opposition and hit bowlers all over the park, ensuring they made up for Wade’s initial hit.
Macalister Wright, in particular, played some great shots and one of the best came early in the innings. He hit a magnificent six off Marcus Stoinis but more than a shot something else caught the attention of many.
During the fourth ball of the fourth over of the first innings, Marcus Stoinis bowled a gift over the pads to Macalister Wright. The batsman backed away a little and pulled it away to hit a huge six at deep mid-wicket position.
As the ball headed toward the stands, a spectator tried to catch it. He failed to grab it and ended up hurting himself. He fell onto the bleacher chairs and looked in pain.
Here is the video of the incident on BBL:

After that, Macalister Wright also hit some impressive shots but couldn’t convert the start he got. The batsman finished with an innings of 33 runs off 19 balls but gave his team the much-needed boost. He batted at a strike rate of around 174 and also hit three fours and two sixes.
Caleb Jewell, on the other hand, played a decent knock and fell just 5 runs short of his half-century. He soaked up all the pressure and played some sharp shots in his innings. He finished with 45 runs off 37 balls with the help of 5 fours.
BBL 2023-24: Hobart Hurricanes finish with a total of 155 runs on the board
After the amazing outings with the bat of Macalister Wright and Caleb Jewell, the middle and lower order failed to capitalize on the platform they got. Captain Glenn Maxwell of his Melbourne Stars team bowled sensationally, picking three wickets and getting his team back into the game, putting Hobart Hurricanes under pressure.
Nikhil Chaudhary at the end tried to play some shots and made sure to take his team close to 150 runs. The right-hander scored 32 runs off 16 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Chris Jordan (11) tried to get going but Haris Rauf was on top of the Hobart Hurricanes supporters. He troubled them with his fast bowling and put his team on top. The fast bowler picked up three wickets and helped his team restrict the Hobart Hurricanes to a total of just 155 races. Apart from Maxwell and Rauf, Joel Paris, Imad Wasim and Usama Mir were among the wickets in the BBL game.
