Nick Hobson Gets Lucky As Bails Dont Fall In BBL

Perth Scorchers batsman Nick Hobson had a lucky escape in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 against Brisbane Heat. The 35th match of the tournament between the teams took place at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

The Perth Scorchers opted to bat first and did not have a great outing with the bat for most of the innings and at one stage were reeling at 83/5. However, Nick Hobson played a blinder for the team that batted down the order and made sure to take his team beyond 160 runs and give the players something to fight with.

The batsman played some majestic knocks and put pressure on the opponents. He, however, was also lucky in the end as he failed to get out even though the ball hit the stumps. It happened during the last ball of the innings when Paul Walter was bowling.

Paul Walter bowled a delivery to which Nick Hobson got an inside edge. The ball hit the stumps but the balls did not fall. The batsmen then took the opportunity to take the run and the bowling team looked absolutely shocked.

The batsman scored 35 runs, while Laurie Evans also took advantage of his 26-run knock. For Brisbane Heat, Michael Neser was the pick of the players with his figures of 2/21.

In addition to Neser, Xavier Bartlett, Spencer Johnson, Matthew Kuhnemann and Paul Walter also collected a scalp each. It was a decent effort from them as they put pressure on the opponents for most of the innings.

BBL 2023-24: Nick Hobson shows no difference between the teams as Perth Scorchers win the game by 35 runs

Nick Hobson’s innings was a game-changer for the Perth Scorchers as they won the game by 35 runs. Brisbane Heat could not continue their winning streak and suffered their first loss of the tournament. The Scorchers, on the other hand, reserved their spot for the playoffs.

Josh Brown (29) and Jimmy Peirson (42) gave Brisbane Heat a great start and looked like they would chase down the target with ease. But after that, Perth Scorchers picked things up pretty well after the Heat batsmen’s opening 55-run partnership.

Andrew Tye picked four wickets while Lance Morris bagged three wickets as they bowled out the opposition for just 128 runs. Max Bryant (29) tried to get going but fell after a good start. In the end, the bowlers quickly took the wickets as they helped the team win and advance to the next stage of the tournament.
