Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and elected to play first. They had a magnificent outing with the ball and put pressure on the Brisbane Heat from the start. They first shook the opponents for 35 runs when they removed Josh Brown (19) and after that they didn’t look back.
Colin Munro (56) kept one end and played a decent hand. He received no support from the other end as the wickets around him fell like a pack of cards. The Hobart Hurricanes steamrolled the Brisbane Heat and reduced them to 110/5 with all the front-order batsmen in the hut.
A crucial contribution from Paul Walter (22) at the end propelled Brisbane Heat to a total of 132 runs.
The Hobart Hurricanes then got off to a horrendous start to the chase when Xavier Bartlett was on them. Brisbane Heat reduced the opposition to 56/5 and were on top of the game before rain stopped them. The target was then revised to 118 in 16 overs and brought a sigh of relief to the Hurricanes.
Nikhil Chaudhary and Tim David (27) played a great hand for the team and added 47 runs for the partnership that brought their team back into the game. There was a twist in the story when David got out and soon Chris Jordan (2) died, thanks to Spencer Johnson.
With 13 runs needed in the last over, Nikhil Chaudhary (55) held his nerve and hit six off the first ball to bring his team closer to the total. But he died in the third ball. The game went down to the last over and saw the Brisbane Heat defending the target and winning the game by 1 run.
