The decision was taken at a meeting of all IPL captains in Mumbai.
Before the next season of India Premier League (IPL 2025), the BCCI invited the ten captains of the team today (March 20) for a meeting in Mumbai.
The meeting witnessed some key decisions taken for the new edition with one of them with respect to wide balls.
While BCCI confirmed that the waves outside the stump and on the head of the dough will be awarded using Hawk-Eye technology, the Apex Board also claimed to eliminate the subjective element to decide the waves.
It is understood that the wide guide, which is generally marked in blue, will move accordingly with the dough.
For perspective, if a left dough changes a foot to your left outside the stump out of the stump, the wide guideline will be adjusted by the same distance and will be used to determine if a delivery is wide.

Hawk-Eye technology will automatically measure both the movement of the batter and the corresponding change in the guide. The television referee will have access to this information on his screen and will decide whether the delivery is wide depending on whether the ball is thrown inside or outside the adjusted guide.
These measures will not be shown in the transmission and will remain visible only for the referee of TV. The return fold marked blank will remain unchanged. In addition, this new system will not apply to the waves on the leg. With only a few remaining days for the season to begin now, it remains to be seen how these new guidelines will affect the decision of the team’s captains that opt for broad reviews.
The IPL 2025 season will begin on Saturday (March 22) with a match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defenders in Eden Gardens.
