The BCCI decided to raise the prohibition of saliva in the next Indian Premier League (2025) on Thursday after most franchise captains agreed to the decision during a meeting at the headquarters of the Board in Mumbai.
The shape of the old school to shine the ball with saliva has been prohibited by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2020 as a precaution to avoid the propagation of COVID-19. The ICC had made the permanent prohibition in 2022.
The IPL restoring the practice could also incite the CPI to reconsider the rule three years ago in the International Cricket. The IPL 2025 will begin on Saturday with the clash between the defenders Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the gardens of Eden in Kolkata.
