Dhruv Trevally and Sarfaraz Khan have been included in the BCCI central contract after meeting the criteria of playing three Tests in the current season. Both the players made their debut in the recently concluded five-match Test series between India and England.
With Ishan Kishan Outcast Dhruv Jurel earned a surprise call-up to the Test squad. On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan was not part of the original team but was called up ahead of the second Test after an injury kept KL Rahul out of the game.
Both players grabbed the opportunity with both hands as they impressed with the bat. Both made their Test debut in the third Test played in Rajkot. While Sarfaraz Khan scored a half-century in both innings of the game, Dhruv Jurel scored 46 in the first innings.
In the fourth Test in Ranchi, the keeper-batsman starred with the bat, playing knocks of 90 and 39* to bail India out of trouble and propel them to a series-clinching victory. Dhruv Jurel was named Man of the Match for his impressive performances. In the fifth Test, Sarfaraz Khan scored another fifty and India sealed the series 4-1.

With Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan playing three Tests in the series, the BCCI has given them central contracts. Both players have been included in Group C of the BCCI central contract with an annual retention fee of INR 1 crore. Their names were ratified during the BCCI Apex Council meeting held on Monday (March 18), according to Hindustan Times.
During the same meeting, BCCI officials also discussed the Ranji Trophy schedule for the upcoming season. The report further states that the BCCI is unlikely to schedule matches in the northern part of the country during December and January to avoid games being disrupted due to fog and poor lighting.
“No decision has been taken yet, but the Ranji Trophy, like in previous years, could begin in mid-to-late October after the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which serves as the IPL auction platform. “Some states are losing crucial points in do-or-die games due to bad weather from mid-December to mid-February.” a major BCCI the source told PTI.
