He took to his Instagram story and expressed his opinion.

England and New Zealand recently took a hit to their World Test Championship (WTC) points tally after the ICC deducted 3 points each for slow overrating in the recent NZ vs ENG first Test in Christchurch.

Although both England and New Zealand captains Ben Stokes and Tom Latham accepted the sanction, Stokes expressed his displeasure shortly afterwards in an Instagram story.

Ben Stokes wrote: “Good for you ICC. I finished the game with 10 hours left to play.”

How does the ICC decision affect the WTC rating?

The three-point penalty has pushed the Black Caps to fifth place in the standings, behind Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa and India. This development benefits India, which tops the table with a points percentage of 61.11.

New Zealand’s PCT now stands at 47.92 and they will need to win their remaining two matches against England, taking their tally to a maximum of 55.36. Not only that, the Kiwis will have to rely on other results in their favor to qualify for the 2025 final at Lord’s.

England, on the other hand, is out of the competition with a PCT of 42.5.
