Former Australia national cricket team bowler Brad Hogg has lavished high praise on the Indian National Cricket Team Left-handed opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, but has also issued a warning to the young cricketer.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket and has consistently brought India victory in international cricket.
Jaiswal was called up to India after supreme performances in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has maintained his form at the international level. The left-handed batsman has become a permanent member of the Test and T20I teams but is yet to make his debut in ODI cricket.
Currently, Jaiswal is participating in the five-match home Test series against the England national cricket team. He has looked fantastic in the series and has already scored two double centuries. The 22-year-old has scored 545 runs in 6 innings at an astonishing average of 109.00 and is the series’ leading run-getter.
Jaiswal has created and broken several new records with his performances in the series and will hope to play crucial innings again in the fourth Test match, which will be played from February 23 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
He hasn’t played much pace in this series and that’s where his next test will be: Brad Hogg on Yashasvi Jaiswal
In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Brad Hogg stated that Jaiswal will be tested in overseas trials in England, Australia and South Africa when the ball moves at a good pace and he needs to work on his technique. He said:
“I think he’s the best young prospect out there. He hasn’t played with much pace in this series and that will be the next test of him when he comes to Australia, England and South Africa. He will have pace on the surface and you can’t afford to play outside the off stump right from the start. But the way he has talked, I think he will work on his technique when he goes there and have a better chance of success.”
Hogg was also impressed with Dhruv Jurel’s performance in his first Test match against England. The former Australian spinner stated that Jurel is a better overall wicketkeeper-batsman than KS Bharat and he will have a bright future.
“I am very impressed with Jurel. Sorry for Bharat, but Jurel offers more with the bat and gloves. He is going to have a very bright future, also depending on whether Pant is fully fit and plays in all three formats.”
Dhruv Jurel made his Test debut in Rajkot where Rohit Sharma & Co. humiliated the Three Lions by 434 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The young wicketkeeper-batsman played a crucial role in the victory as he scored 46 runs in the first innings and took a total of 2 catches in the match.
Brad Hogg further stated that the England national cricket team has not underestimated the Indian team but is playing with its natural aggressive approach to offer assistance to its players to get 20 wickets in the match. He stated:
“I don’t think they underestimated India’s inexperience. They are just playing their brand of cricket and they know that India’s youth has so much talent and they were just trying to bat quickly to give their players enough time to pick. 20 wickets.”
