Chris Gayle snubs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as he picks most successful India captain

Former West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle named MS Dhoni as the most successful captain of the Indian national cricket team. Chris Gayle acknowledged that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also done their jobs well as captains of the Men in Blue, but described MS Dhoni as the trendsetter.

Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three International Cricket Council (ICC) trophies in white-ball format. The veteran cricketer guided the Indian team to the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He last played for the Indian team in the 2019 semi-final.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained India in 200 One Day Internationals (ODIs). The team achieved 110 victories, 74 losses and 16 without results. He holds the record for most international caps as captain. He captained a total of 332 matches in all formats; India won 178 matches and lost 120.

MS Dhoni has been the most successful captain: Chris Gayle

In a recent interview, Chris Gayle declared MS Dhoni as India’s most successful captain and added that he set a trend in leadership. He also added that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli performed well in their roles as Indian captains.

“Dhoni has been India’s most successful captain. The guy really set the trend and overall, Rohit Sharma did his job well and Virat Kohli did his job quite well,” Gayle told IANS.

The ‘Boss of the Universe’ is just tougher – Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle humorously commented on the toughest bowler he faced and said he is not sure if such a bowler exists. He said that all bowlers present challenges as any bowler can take a wicket with a single ball. However, Gayle added that bowlers may be tough, but he, the ‘Universe Boss’, is tougher.

“The toughest bowler, is he born or is he still alive? I’m not sure. So all bowlers are tough because every bowler tries and gets a chance to pick a wicket,” Gayle replied cheekily.

“Actually, each player can take just one ball to get here, but at the same time, it is fun to also face some top-class fast bowlers and spinners. “All the bowlers are pretty tough, but the ‘Universe Boss’ is just tougher,” he added.

There are some quality retired players – Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle currently plays for the Gujarat Giants in the Legends League Cricket. The left-handed batsman shared his excitement about the tournament. Gayle was also impressed with the quality of the retired players who participated in the tournament.

“I’ve been here for a month and this is my first game. I joined the tournament late, but it was actually a lot of fun last year and a little rain interrupted the tournament this year as well. So, I have been a setback with a very bad and low score as well; I want to see more entertainment. Hopefully they can work on that, but overall, there are some quality retreats.

“So it’s great to be a part of this once again and share a dressing room with people like Shikar Dhawan. Legends League is actually making up moves,” Gayle said.
