Coach reacts to RCB player’s ‘unacceptable’ behavior as he leaves field amid fight with captain during WI vs ENG ODI

The incident occurred during England’s fourth innings.

During the recent third ODI of WI vs ENG, a moment of confusion occurred in the middle when a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) bowler decided to leave the field mid-over after having a dispute with the Windies captain , Shai Hope, regarding the field location.

Alzarri Joseph, who was bought by RCB ahead of the IPL 2024 auction for a huge amount of INR 11.50 crore, was not happy and could be seen protesting with Hope.

Following the incident, West Indies coach Daren Sammy broke his silence on the matter and called Alzarri Joseph’s behavior “unacceptable”.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Sammy said: “Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket pitch. We’ll be friends… but in the culture I’m trying to build, that’s unacceptable. “We will definitely chat about it.”

What really happened to José Alzarri?

The incident occurred during England’s fourth innings. On the fourth throw, Alzarri Joseph dismissed Jordan Cox, caught behind, but instead of celebrating with his teammates, he calmly returned to his mark. Without warning, Joseph left the field at the end of the over, leaving West Indies with just ten fielders to start the fifth over.

Joseph returned at the start of the sixth over, but did not bowl again until the 12th over. He bowled two more overs before leaving the field again after two fielding errors on his deliveries resulted in England scoring two additional runs through demolitions. Later, he again bowled two more overs in the middle and completed the remaining three overs towards the end of the innings.

Joseph concluded the match with bowling figures of 2 for 45 from his total quota of 10 overs, having taken the wickets of Cox and Dan Mousley.
