Chennai Super Kings (CSK) posted a heartfelt message for Rohit Sharma after his tenure as Mumbai Indians captain came to an end. The MS Dhoni-led team shared a video message for the Indian captain on their social media handles.

In what was a shocking development, Mumbai Indians (MI) announced on Friday (December 15) that Rohit Sharma will no longer be the captain of the franchise. They announced Hardik Pandya as the new captain, stating that it would be a transition for the team.

This marks the end of a successful 10-year stint as captain of the Mumbai Indians for Rohit Sharma. He took over leadership of the team in mid-2013 and after that turned the team’s fortunes around, making it the most successful franchise in the history of the team. IPLwhich was later also achieved by CSK.

Rohit Sharma guided Mumbai Indians to five IPL trophies in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 and apart from that, he also won a Champions League title. His legacy as captain in the tournament will be unmatched since he was the first leader to win 5 titles and he did so in just 10 years.

Chennai Super Kings posted a reel on captain Rohit Sharma and shared his pictures with MS Dhoni. They published the video with the caption: “2013 ➡️ 2023: A decade of energetic challenges! Much respect, Rohit!

Mumbai Indians also posted a heartwarming video for Rohit Sharma, highlighting their memories and mentioning how in the ups and downs the captain asked them to smile. He added that he would be his captain forever.

“Ro, in 2013 you took over as captain of MI. You asked us to believe. In victories and defeats, you asked us to smile. Ten years and 6 trophies later, here we are. Our captain forever, his legacy will be etched in blue and gold. Thank you, Captain RO.”

The responsibility of carrying forward Rohit Sharma’s legacy will now fall on Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians and played for them for 7 long seasons. After that, he moved to Gujarat Titans and won the title for them. He was recently traded to Mumbai Indians for 15 crores.
