He didn’t beat around the bush at all.
Talented Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw has been going through a rough patch for some time now but hit a new low after going unsold in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Earlier, the Delhi Capitals (DC) had decided not to retain him.
Apart from his form, Shaw’s fitness has been a big point of debate and he was also recently dropped from the Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy.
Echoing the same line, DC co-owner Parth Jindal spoke about the decision and did not mince words. He felt Shaw needed this “shake up” after failing to live up to expectations.

Parth Jindal makes bold statement about Prithvi Shaw after IPL 2025 auction snub
Jindal emphasized the immense pressure Prithvi Shaw faced early in his career as he was often compared to iconic players like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara, which could have impacted his development.
Jindal said while talking to India Today, “When your whole life you grow up hearing that you are the special opener, the most talented and that you are the only batsman in the world, apart from Sachin and Kohli, who owns an MRF bat, that says a lot. ”.
The JSW Cements CEO added: Someone called him Lara, someone called him Sachin, or the next big thing… so I grew up in that environment. Everyone in Mumbai cricket was talking about him. Mumbai has given us Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar, and now they were talking about him. So, this is the jolt that Prithvi needed. Till now I had a big IPL contract and was playing all formats for Mumbai and was starting for Delhi.”
He also urged Shaw to work on his fitness and discipline and bounce back stronger from this low point.
