Delhi Capitals is unlikely to use all its retention dues.

The deadline to submit the list of retained players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auction (October 31) is approaching and speculation is rife about which players will be retained by the franchises.

Recently, the BCCI announced the new player retention rules and as per the regulations, each franchise has been allowed to retain a maximum of 6 players using direct retention and Right to Match (RTM) options.

There has been a lot of talk about the possible fate of Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant next season. However, a PTI journalist confirmed with a post on social media platform

Not only that, the journalist also mentioned two other stars who could achieve the retention cut.

While Pant will get INR 18 crore, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav will be the next two retainers, pocketing INR 14 crore and INR 11 crore respectively.

DC unlikely to use all withholding fees

Notably, it is understood that Delhi Capitals will opt to retain only three players, meaning they will not use all their available retention spots. By opting for just three holds, the team will enter the auction with additional Right to Match (RTM) cards, allowing them the opportunity to reacquire players such as Tristan Stubbs, Mitchell Marsh, Harry Brook and Jake Fraser-McGurk. DC reportedly plans to use its RTMs specifically for Fraser-McGurk and Stubbs.
