Ahead of the much-awaited arrival of the Indian team in New Delhi, the local police are taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of the players and other team members.

The T20 World Cup winners will land in the national capital in the early hours of Thursday (July 4). After landing at the IGI Airport, the team will leave for Hotel Maurya. Police have taken adequate security measures at the airport and the team hotel, according to a PTI report.

The police have decided to provide the team with escort vehicles which will be manned by armed policemen. The security personnel will escort the team from the airport to the hotel. The Indian team is expected to land in New Delhi around 6 am and the police are expecting a good number of fans at the airport.

Apart from escorting the team, police will also remain deployed on the routes from the airport to the hotel. A Delhi Police official has said that at least two companies of paramilitary personnel have been deployed around the hotel and the routes in central Delhi. Police are expecting fans to gather on the road and outside the hotel to welcome the victorious Indian team.

After a brief stay at Hotel Maurya, Team India members will depart for the Prime Minister’s residence where they will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 am before leaving for Mumbai on the same day.

Open-top bus parade for Team India:

Team India will be holding an open-top bus parade in Mumbai to celebrate the 2024 T20 World Cup win. Captain Rohit Sharma himself confirmed the news on Wednesday (July 3) by inviting fans to the victory celebrations. The veteran batsman wrote that the celebrations will begin at 5:00 pm

Victory in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup ended India’s long wait for an ICC trophy. India had not won any ICC competition since 2013 before beating South Africa in the T20 World Cup final last week. The Men in Blue beat the Proteas by 7 runs in a thrilling match to become only the second team after West Indies and England to win the T20 World Cup for the second time.

Meanwhile, India’s first assignment as T20 world champions will be the five-match series against Zimbabwe, which begins later this week. Shubman Gill will lead a reserve India team in the series.
