DESCVESH RATHI charged by IPL for the celebration of the angry notebook vs Punjab Kings in IPL 2025

Lucknow Super Giants Young Spinner Digve Bathi has been penalized for his lively ‘Celebration of the Notebook’ during the IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings. The IPL officially confirmed that Rathi received a fine of 25% of his party rates and handed him a point of demerit for violating the code of conduct.

The incident took place during the Punjab persecution at the Ekana stadium in Lucknow. After saying goodbye to his national team in Delhi, Priyansh Arya, Rathi walked towards the batter and imitated the ‘Celebration of the Notebook’, a gesture that Kesrick Williams and later for Virat Kohli in 2019.

While it may have been destined to be a setback or a cheerful jab, the gesture was considered excessive and violated the IPL code with respect to the player’s behavior.

Rathi admitted the crime of level 1 under article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct of the IPL, which is related to “using language, actions or gestures that belittled or could cause an aggressive reaction from a batter after its dismissal.” According to the IPL rules, for level 1 crimes, the party’s referee’s decision is final and binding.

The celebration quickly caught attention on social networks, but Rathi’s team had little to celebrate at the end of the game. Despite a competitive total of 171, Lucknow lost the game when Punjab Kings pursued the goal easily.

And to add to the sting, the official Punjab Kings mango (previously Twitter) gave a cunning cava in Rathi Post-Match. They published a photo of a notebook and a pen with the subtitle: “I hope you have written the result also”, in response to the celebration.
