The 25 year old England women’s national cricket team Batting all-rounder Emma Lamb has been ruled out of the upcoming one-off Test match against the Indian women’s national cricket team, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Friday, December 8.
Emma Lamb, who played 2 Test matches, 11 ODI matches and 1 T20I match for the England women’s national cricket team, suffered a back problem and was forced to withdraw her name from the series.
Emma Lamb has now returned to the UK, where she will visit a spine surgeon to determine the next steps to cure her back problem.
To cope with the absence of Emma Lamb, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has added two players to the squad. As Emma’s replacement, Maia Bouchier has been called up and the board has also decided to add Kirstie Gordon to the trial squad.
Middle-order batsman Maia Bouchier is yet to represent the England women’s national cricket team in Test cricket, while Gordon has played one Test match in her career.
Talking about England’s tour of India, it consists of a three-match T20I series and a one-off Test match. England beat India by 38 runs in the first game of the T20I series to take a 1-0 lead. The next two matches will be played on December 9 and 10 and the test match will begin on December 14.
