The England national cricket team has announced the squad for the upcoming Test series against the Sri Lanka national cricket team. Ben Stokes will captain the team, while opening batsman Zak Crawley has been ruled out of the series.

The England national cricket team will host Sri Lanka in the three-match series. The games between the teams will begin on August 21 at the Emirates, Old Trafford. The second match is scheduled for August 29 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, and the final match will be played at the Kia Oval in London.

England’s squad for the Sri Lanka series is largely similar to the one they had for the West Indies series. Opener Zak Crawley will miss the series due to a fractured right little finger, an injury he sustained during the third game of the Test series against the West Indies National Cricket Team.

Instead, young batsman Jordan Cox received his first call-up. The batsman was included in the squad for his sensational performances for Essex this season. He was also part of the England squad that travelled to Pakistan for the white-ball series in 2022. Additionally, Dan Lawrence is set to open the innings for the team.

Fast bowler Dillion Pennington, who was part of the Test series against the West Indies, has also been ruled out of the series. He suffered a hamstring injury while playing in The Hundred competition and has been deemed unfit to take part in the upcoming three-match series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

Instead, Olly Stone has been called up to the squad. The fast bowler has been named in the squad for the first time since June 2021. He has played three Test matches so far and would be keen to make an impact on the team on his return after more than two years.
