ENGLAND FORM: MUST WIN, MUST WIN WELL

England came into the tournament on the back of a couple of comprehensive victories against Pakistan and seemed like a well grooved, well-balanced machine. They then allowed Scotland to reach 90 without loss in ten overs in a game that had no result due to the weather before then being hammered by Australia and they remain the only team to have conceded a 200+ score in the tournament.

LAST FIVE: LAWAW

OMAN FORM: STRUGGLERS SO FAR

It has been a difficult and frustrating campaign for Oman and they have already been eliminated from the competition. They began with a tense game against Namibia, losing a super over but perhaps being fortunate to get to a super over, before a 39-run loss to Australia and then being annihilated by Scotland; conceding 153-3 in just 13.1 overs as the Scots ran riot to boost their net run rate.

LAST FIVE: LLLAW

ENGLAND BETTING ANALYSIS

One thing that many people have suggested ahead of the tournament is that Oman are not used to facing pace. Mark Wood and Jofra Archer have bowled well but not been overly threatening so Reece Topley is expected to come in but Archer remains the best bet to be England’s top bowler (7/2) because he is bowling well and his zip will surely be too much for the Omani’s.

Now, a bit of a niche bet will be to go for the ‘first ball’. The facts are, though, that England must hammer Oman in order to stand any chance of progression. Therefore, with the always aggressive Phil Salt on strike first ball should England bat first, a four off the first ball (7/1) could well represent good value.

OMAN BETTING ANALYSIS

Adam Zampa took 4-12 for Australia as they annihilated Namibia at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium the other night so there could well be very good value in backing veteran all-rounder Zeeshan Maqsood to be their best bowler on the night (6/1) with his slow left-arm orthodox also able to cause problems to England’s right-hander heavy top order, albeit Maqsood is yet to take a wicket in the tournament.

Ayaan Khan has been the dominant batter for Oman so far in this tournament with 92 runs scored in his three appearances. The next best on that list is Khalid Kail with just 47. Given that, Khan to be their best batter (10/1) is good value.

ENGLAND VS OMAN EXPERT PREDICTION

England are looking at a scenario where they, with very rough maths, have to win by over 50 runs against both Oman and Namibia or inside 13 or 14 overs in the chase to match Scotland’s NRR – and them hope the Scots lose to the Australians, whereby Josh Hazlewood has already admitted it would be in their interests to knock England out. Either way, England must turn up and their big game players surely will do.

ENGLAND VS OMAN TOP TIP: ENGLAND TO WIN -54.5 runs or -7.5 wickets
