Estonian batsman Sahil Chauhan, on Monday (June 17), created history by smashing the fastest century in T20I history. The right-handed batsman achieved an incredible feat against Cyprus.

He completed his century in just 27 balls. It is also now the fastest century in all T20s. On Monday, Estonia and Cyprus played the first two games of the six-match series. Estonia won both matches, but Sahil Chauhan had a mixed performance.

In the first game he could not even open his account and was dismissed for a golden duck, although his team chased down 196 in the final over. Captain Arslan Amjad shone with the bat for Estonia in the first game, scoring 63 to lay the foundation for the successful chase.

Just a few hours later, Sahil Chauhan made amends for his failure in the first game by scoring a dazzling century in the second. Chasing 192, Estonia were reeling at 40 for 3 before Sahil Chauhan single-handedly propelled them to a remarkable victory. The 32-year-old played an unbeaten 144 runs off just 41 balls. He also broke the record for most six hits in a T20I innings by smashing as many as 18 sixes.

It didn’t take long for Sahil Chauhan to get going. He made his intentions clear by bringing Mangala Gunasekara to cleanup in the sixth over. He hit Gunasekara four sixes and a four to complete his fifty off just 14 balls and didn’t look back after that. He finally reached his century in the ninth over off just 27 balls. Thanks to his blistering hitting, Estonia achieved the total in just 13 overs.
