According to a report in the Times of India, Parthiv Patel will be in the Gujarat Titans dressing room for the upcoming edition of the IPL. He will join them as a hitting mentor, a position vacant since the departure of Gary Kirsten.

Kirsten was GT’s mentor and hitting coach for the first three seasons of their admission to the league and did an excellent job of building the team into a solid force. However, he joined the Pakistan cricket team after the 2024 season as their head coach in white-ball formats.

Parthiv has played for six teams in the richest T20 league, scoring 2848 runs at an average of 22.60 and a strike rate of 120.78 in 137 innings. He also has 13 fifties, including a best of 81.

Parthvi Patel’s previous work experience with Mumbai Indians

Following his retirement in December 2020, Parthiv Patel, who won two titles with MI, was part of the Mumbai-based franchise as a talent scout ahead of IPL 2021. Later, he was also the batting coach of MI Emirates, a sister franchise. of Mumbai Indians, in the International T20 League (ILT20), a T20 competition based in the United Arab Emirates.

He has followed domestic cricket closely and has been part of the commentary team in India’s ongoing Test carnival. His addition to the Titans will help them get the best national talent at the auction and will help them improve with precise training.

He has extensive experience in the league and understands the dynamics of the IPL well. His first role on the team could be to help GT form a competitive team.

The Gujarat Titans endured a tough last season after having two dream editions in 2022 and 2023, failing to qualify for the playoffs for the first time. They had some gaps in the team, which GT hopes to fill with the help of their latest acquisition, Parthiv Patel.
