Following their triumph at the 2024 Asia T20 Cup, the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team will travel to Ireland for a series of white-ball matches, which will include T20I matches and ODI matches next month. The Sri Lanka women’s cricket team will play two T20I matches and three ODI matches against the Ireland women’s cricket team.
The Sri Lankan women’s cricket team will depart for Ireland on 6 August 2024. This will be the Sri Lankan women’s cricket team’s first bilateral tour of Ireland. The Ireland women’s cricket team will play their third bilateral series of the year after taking on Zimbabwe and Thailand in Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates respectively.
Ireland have not lost a bilateral series this year, but their upcoming series against Sri Lanka will be more challenging. The Sri Lankan cricket team has won 18 of their 23 white-ball matches in 2024. They boast a perfect record against Ireland, winning all three ODIs and all three T20Is they have played against them.
Sri Lanka and Ireland will meet for the first time since the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier, where Sri Lanka recorded a comprehensive victory. They were scheduled to face each other in the 2021 ODI World Cup Qualifier, but the match was called off due to travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
