Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra has made a huge statement regarding the fight between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that after the fight, it was Gambhir who ended the feud between the two in the last edition of the tournament.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were involved in a massive brawl during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. It was during the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru when the duo got into a verbal fight with each other at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

It all started after Virat Kohli had a verbal argument with Naveen-ul-Haq during the game and both of them got into a massive brawl. They had a fight during the game and it turned out to be worse as it continued even after that and both of them had a tiff even after the game during the post-match handshakes.

However, while Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq were fighting, Gautam Gambhir, who was the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants, also joined in and supported his teammate. He then had a brutal fight with Virat Kohli and things got intense as members of both teams got involved in it.

But during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli hugged each other and that put an end to all the talks related to their fight. During the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders, the duo shared an emotional moment on the field.

Amit Mishra made a major revelation in this regard. He claimed that it was Gautam Gambhir who reached out to Virat Kohli and showed his generosity. He also made a striking statement, saying that it should have been Kohli who had apologized. Speaking on the podcast, he claimed:

“I saw something good in Gautam. Virat Kohli didn’t go to him, Gautam went to him. He went and asked him ‘How are you? How is your family?’. So it was Gautam who ended the dispute and not Kohli.”

“Gautam showed his big heart at that moment. It should have been Kohli who would have gone and ended the dispute. He should have gone and said ‘Gauti bhai, let’s end this’,” Amit Mishra said.

Gautam Gambhir joins Team India as head coach. Virat Kohli will play under him as a batsman.

Recently, Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the Indian National Cricket Team. He will replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach, whose tenure ended after the 2024 T20 World Cup. After several reports about Gambhir joining as the head coach, it finally became a reality when Jay Shah made an official statement.

Virat Kohli will now play under Gautam Gambhir and with both being fierce competitors, the Indian team is expected to be one of the toughest to face.

Gautam Gambhir will take charge of the team that is currently touring Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will travel to the island nation for three ODIs and three T20Is later this month and mark a new era in Indian cricket.
